Dear All,
Its hard to believe, but I have now been back home for about six months. Most of the time I almost feel like my mission was a dream. I tell stories and I’m thinking, “Wait, did that really happen!?!? Was that really me?” It is amazing to think about, and I am so grateful that it was real and it really did happen to me.
Before I go any further, I would be completely ungrateful if I didn’t say thank you to everyone who helped me out on my mission. My parents were particularly fabulous, but so were my siblings and a bunch of other people I don’t really know. To everyone who helped out financially, ever sent me a letter or ever prayed for me- Thank you. Thank you so so much. Thank you. I truly felt every ounce of support, and I can’t even begin to express how much that meant to me. Thank you.
Since I’ve been home life has been… well… for lack of a better word, it has been life. In a way it was particularly strange coming home because I realized that I had either fulfilled or was in the process of fulfilling all of my childhood dreams. Attending BYU, serving a mission and becoming an English teacher. Check, check and changed. I almost feel like Rapunzel when she said, “I’ve been looking out of a window for eighteen years, dreaming about what I might feel like when those lights rise in the sky. What if it’s not everything I dreamed it would be?… And what if it is? What do I do then?" Its been an amazing road. Long, difficult and crazy at times, but certainly an amazing adventure.
I guess in the words of Flynn Rider, it is now time to find another dream. I have a lot of neat things coming up in my life, including a study abroad in London (another deeply embeded dream of mine), a fabulous summer and (hopefully) an exciting life. I’ve decided that I want this blog to be reserved solely for my mission. It kind of helps that the title of the blog is “Called to Serve” and the website is “alabamasister.blogspot.com.” However, I also want a very special place to keep all of my mission memories. I might update it occasionally with random memories or thoughts or updates about people I love that are related to my mission, but for the most part I am going to be focusing on two other blogs. One is http://justmylittleblogspot.blogspot.com/ and it will serve mostly as a way to record my writings. So, if you are interested in the poetry, musings and rants of Erica Pratt, this is the place to go. The other blog has yet to be named…. I am currently at justmyepiclife.blogspot.com… but that could very easily change. I’m in the process of creating it right now. I’ll keep you updated. This blog will basically be the story of my post-mission life. Its where I will write about my experiences, London and anything else I want to tell everyone. Hopefully life will be a fantastic adventure from here on out!!
